Sam Heazlett stroked 78 off 87 balls to add to his century in the first innings as Queensland defeated Tasmania to notch up their first win of the season. Heazlett was named Man of the Match in his debut first-class game.
He struck 14 fours and his 132-run partnership with opener Scott Henry gave Queensland a strong base in their chase of 273. Marnus Labuschange, Henry, Nathan Reardon, and Jason Floros then departed in quick succession, but Chris Hartley and Ben Cutting put the seal on the win with brisk contributions.
It was pacer Mark Steketee who set it up, taking four wickets to skittle Tasmania for 168. This meant that Tasmania managed to add only 68 runs to their overnight score with only Jake Doran and James Faulkner offering some resistance.
