that's that. One more for Rabada. Three wickets at the death. Jadeja just gives catching pressure to Mishra at point
DC vs CSK, 7th Match at Dubai, IPL, Sep 25 2020 - Match Result
That concludes a comprehensive win for Delhi Capitals. They are coming together really well. Their batsmen have shown the adjustment after game one. They seem to realise with their bowling attack on these pitches they need not go for 200 every time. Tonight they consciously settled for less, and still had the confidence they were over-par. Then their bowlers vindicated that thinking. Rabada and Nortje are a very uncomfortable proposition on such surfaces, and Axar Patel has been the best fingerspinner so far in this IPL. They are looking formidable. And that is where we leave. Unlike CSK, though, we don't have a one-week break. See you tomorrow
Prithvi Shaw, the MoM: "In the start, you have to see how the wicket is. It is important to play along the ground at the start. Last year too I struck well but made silly mistakes. We had a slow start in PP, but we knew we had wickets in hand and we could make up. I think the wicket was better than our last match."
Shreyas Iyer: "I am really happy with the performance. I will give the fielders a benefit of doubt because these are not good conditions for catching. Because of the lighting. You sometimes misjudge the ball. You go hard, and it does come really fast. You are not sure where to position yourself. We decided we need to win comprehensively, we are happy we did that. We decided we need to assess the conditions well. The wicket was playing slow and two-paced, so we our finish was actually over-par on this surface. I am really lucky to have two power-house fast bowlers. You don't have to tell them what to do."
MS Dhoni: "I don't think it was a good game for us. The wicket did slow down a bit, there was no dew, but I think we are lacking steam in the batting department. We need to figure that out. The break in the nest seven days is the best chance we could get: give them match simulation and look for the right balance. If you look at the bowling department, there are not all consistent. We are one batsman heavy, and we can only think of getting one more bowler, we need some signs that they can take the extra load. Rayudu should play the next match so he gives us the room to experiment with the extra bowler."
Dhoni is asked about the dropped catches and if the unique lights in Dubai play a part in it. He says it doesn't bother the ones with the big gloves, but also says this is unusual lighting. "It is not like there is less light. Maybe the trajectory. Now that you have said this, there will be guys making that excuse." Typical Dhoni
Kagiso Rabada has the purple cap and has also broken Malinga's record for most consecutive two-fors in the IPL
This is comprehensive. CSK were outpowered by the excellent DC bowling here. Their batting was exposed ruthlessly by a solid bowling attack. Two CSK matches that stopped being a contest five-six overs into a chase. Panic bells have got to start ringing. It is staggering that a team goes only five down into the last over of a chase and is nowhere near the target. That is criminal in T20 cricket
shuffles across to work this slower ball into the leg side
short of a length straight, defended
Sam Curran walks in for the last three balls
Dhoni walks off. Doesn't wait to see if this low catch is clean or not. Rabada rolls his fingers on the short ball, Dhoni gets a top edge thanks to the extra bounce, and Pant dives in front to take the catch
slower ball, on leg, makes room to take a single to point
Jadeja makes room, Rabada's length ball gets big on hi, and he mis-hits it over mid-off. Again hit high on the bat
Rabada to finish off
down the wicket to drive this slower ball to deep cover
quick again, hits him on the pad as he looks to slog to leg. Pant collects it on the bounce
sharp bouncer, 138ks, but this time it is a tough too high. Called a wide
down the leg side. That will be a wide
slower ball, short of a length, pulled down to long-on for one
legcutter length ball, he is late into it, and is hit high on the bat
quick short ball, Jadeja is late into it, and gets a single off the top edge. Over five a ball now. Just to keep you informed
Honest guy: "For NRR to be effective, shouldn't you win matches?"
low full toss, driven hard to deep cover for one
Nortje to finish off here
top edge. Rabada hurrying him with a bouncer, but it lands wide of the sweeper on the leg side
short of a length, around off, pushed down the ground for one
dug in short, smartly played by Jadeja who makes room and guides this between short third and point
short of a length, angling in from round the wicket, bunted into a hole on the leg side for a couple
Ravindra Jadeja is the new batsman in. They need a four every ball
finally. Faf has edged one straight to a fielder, and the said fielder completes the catch. He is backing away again, and Rabada smartly slips in a wide delivery, and the outside edge settles with Pant
and Faf is outdoing all cats. What will it take for one chance to stick. He backs away to manage just a toe-ended skier, and Hetmyer drops him at mid-off
Rabada and Nortje now with 3.5 runs required every ball. That is not fun
