The first thing that strikes you about Kyle Jamieson is his height. At 6'8", he is one of the tallest fast bowlers in the circuit. And like most people who send a cricket ball down from such awkward heights, he is known for getting awkward bounce. So much so that batsmen forget that he has a phenomenal fuller delivery. Especially when it starts to hoop in at the stumps.
Jamieson was born and bred in Auckland. He even plays domestic cricket for them now, but it was during his time at Canterbury that he first rose to the national spotlight. The right-arm quick, playing in the 2019 Super Smash, picked up 6 for 7 in four overs. Those figures are a New Zealand T20 record, and they have been bettered by only three men in the entire world.
Jamieson made his international debut in February 2020 against India and was one of the key players in an incredibly close match at Eden Park. He has since been viewed as an asset for New Zealand in all forms of cricket and has been especially potent in Test matches. He took two five-fors in his first four matches and has also shown a lot of competence with the bat as well. Although he has only begun his career, the heights he might reach already look scary.
