At R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, July 25, 2007. Sri Lanka won by 39 runs. Toss: Bangladesh.
One-day international debut: Mahmudullah.
With the series settled and the skies overcast, the final game had an end-of-term feel. The large
concrete bowl of the Premadasa was near-empty, and Bangladesh's players could be forgiven if
they had one eye on their flight home. Sri Lanka duly wrapped up the series 3-0, despite another
less than convincing display from their senior batsmen. Although rain reduced their innings to 40
overs, it was the only time Bangladesh bowled them out on this tour. Mubarak rescued them from
61 for four with 72, backed up by Dilshan. The Sri Lankan seamers held Bangladesh's top order
in check, with Kulasekara, brought in as Malinga was rested, returning two for 17 from seven
accurate overs. Tamim Iqbal kept the tourists' hopes alive for a while, stroking 54 in a strange
mix of caution and wild risk-taking. But he holed out in the deep off Jayasuriya, who collected
another four wickets.
Man of the Match: J. Mubarak. Man of the Series: S. T. Jayasuriya.
