Scotland gain fourth ODI venue

Scotland have been granted their fourth official ODI venue at Titwood, in Glasgow, after receiving approval from the ICC.

Following extensive work to the ground, and an official inspection from Chris Broad last week, Clydesdale Cricket Club's Titwood ground was upgraded and will host Scotland's one-dayer against India on August 16 as well as India and Pakistan's Friendship Cup fixture on July 3.

"It is very important that Scottish cricket has a range of approved grounds for the increasing number of ODIs," explained Roddy Smith, chief executive of Cricket Scotland. "We have been very keen to have a venue within the City of Glasgow for some time and, thanks to the efforts of everyone at Clydesdale, Hutchesons' Grammar School and Glasgow City Council, this has become a reality.

"At Titwood, we were very fortunate in receiving full co-operation from Hutchie, who have enabled us to 'borrow' underused adjacent land for the purpose of staging ODIs. This land has been re-sculpted to meet our needs, and will be put to full use for the first time when India play Pakistan for The Friendship Cup in front of a crowd of up to 6000."

Scotland's other three international venues which have all been approved in recent years are Grange's Portgower Place, Aberdeenshire's Mannofield and Ayr's New Cambusdoon.
