Scorecard
Victoria put in an impressive display in the field at Melbourne, dismissing South Australia for just 191 in their Pura Cup match. The Redbacks won the toss, but got off to a poor start, losing their first four wickets with only 57 on the board. Useful contributions from Callum Ferguson (33), Nathan Adcock (36) and Graham Manou (43) propped up the innings somewhat, but they could still only manage a paltry total.
Victoria's star with the ball was an unlikely one. Jonathon Moss had just four first-class wickets to his name before this game, but almost doubled his tally in a day, taking 3 for 6 from six overs. He was the villain of the piece earlier, when he dropped Manou on 32, but then he returned to dismiss him, caught superbly by Brad Hodge at gully, and then took two more wickets as well. The other hero for Victoria was Shane Warne, who returned figures of 3 for 50 from 30 overs. Michael Lewis bowled with exceptional control too, keeping the pressure on the Redbacks and taking two early scalps, in the process reaching the 150-wicket landmark in first-class cricket.
Warne was completely on top of the South Australian batsmen, who tried to use their feet against him and floundered - Daniel Harris was stumped for 12, while Luke Williams, the opener, was caught at slip off the last ball before lunch.
Victoria's march was halted, though, by the weather - an hour and 25 minutes of play was lost to rain.
