Shahriar Nafees and Habibul Bashar - Nafees for the first time since making his debut in 2005 for Bangladesh - have been dropped from the ODI squad for the three-match series in Sri Lanka. This, though, is not a huge surprise, as both of them had torrid time with the bat in the World Cup, and the matches thereafter.
Nafees, although a member of the squad, was not played in any of the one-dayers against India in May. Bashar had relinquished one-day captaincy after the Test series against India, and now has subsequently been dropped from the one-day side after another lean Test series, in Sri Lanka.
Mohammad Rafique, originally a member of the ODI squad, will also return because of a family emergency, and is expected to rejoin the team later during the series. Khalid Mashud, Rajin Saleh, and Mohammad Sharif are the other three members of the squad who will go back to Bangladesh after the completion of the on-going third Test.
Aftab Ahmed, Tamim Iqbal, and Farhad Reza, who played the one-dayers against India, will come back to the side. Mohammad Mahmudullah, the 21-year old right-arm medium-fast bowler, who had impressed during the one-dayers against England A, will be the new face in the team. Tushar Imran has already joined the Test side, and will stay on for the one-dayers.
