Bad weather continues to dogged Tamil Nadu tour

Bad weather continued to dogged the touring Indian Ranji trophy state side Tamil Nadu as their second one-day limited overs match against the Colombo District CA was also cancelled.

The match was due to be played on Friday at the R. Premadasa Stadium. The first match which was scheduled for Thursday was also cancelled because of rain which has hardly allowed the groundsman to prepare a pitch for the matches.

The continuity of the rain has even left the outfield soggy and conditions underfoot very slippery.

The CDCA meanwhile announced a 14-member team to play in the third and final one-day match scheduled for Sunday at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

The team comprises: Hashan Tillakaratne (captain), Ian Daniel, Tillekeratne Dilshan, Jehan Mubarak, Lanka de Silva (wk), Priyankara Wickremasinghe, Kaushalya Weeraratne, Muthumudalige Pushpakumara, Tilan Samaraweera, Dinuk Hettiaratchi, Hemantha Boteju, Rangana Herath, Dinusha Fernando, Chintaka Jayasinghe.

The squad for the 4-day Gopalan trophy match starting at the SSC grounds on Monday was also announced after the CDCA selection committee met on Thursday evening.

The 14 from which the final team will be picked is: Hashan Tillakaratne (captain), Duleep Samaraweera, Chandika Hathurusingha, Tillekeratne Dilshan, Jehan Mubarak, Ian Daniel, Ruchira Perera, Dinuk Hettiaratchi, Muthumudalige Pushpakumara, Kaushalya Weeraratne, Tilan Samaraweera, Prasanna Jayawardene, Rangana Herath, Dilhara Fernando.
