The milestone
After taking his first wicket only in his 49th over, Shakib Al Hasan began to strike regularly for Bangladesh. He dismissed Darren Sammy to become the second Bangladesh bowler, after Mohammad Rafique, to take 100 Test wickets. In his next over, Shakib became his country's highest wicket-taker and then took his 102nd scalp to finish with figures of 52-11-151-4.
The surprise
When Sunil Narine fell at the stroke of lunch, there was speculation whether West Indies would declare because Tino Best had been injured on the first day. However, Best's sudden appearance as he limbered up with some spot-bowling on the side wicket during the lunch break was assurance that he would bowl in the second innings. His three-wicket burst was the confirmation that all was well with his hamstring.
The struggle
Shahriar Nafees has found new ways to struggle against the short ball. In the second innings, he attempted an upper cut against Fidel Edwards, which was caught at gully, but Nafees was given a reprieve when a no-ball was called. He kept pulling whenever the ball was pitched short and eventually perished when he took his eyes off another rising delivery, this time at the throat, and was caught at slips.
The mad moment
The charge and swing at Veerasammy Permaul that resulted in his dismissal will be a sour end to the Test series for Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim. After two days in the field, during which he kept wickets for 200.3 overs and captained the side, fatigue is the best reason to explain such a shot.
The second mad moment
Shakib had batted beautifully, and in contrast to the others before him, to ensure the Test would go into a fifth day. However, his loss of composure in the final over ensured he would not be part of Sunday's play. Batting on 97, Shakib charged Permaul's first ball and tried to find a boundary but the top edge landed in mid-off's hands.
