India coach loses mother to cancer

Kirsten's mother dies

Cricinfo staff

August 8, 2008

Gary Kirsten's mother, Gayl Hall, has died of cancer in a Cape Town hospital. She was 64.

Kirsten had flown to South Africa on Tuesday, mid-way through India's tour of Sri Lanka, to be with his mother. Paddy Upton, the mental conditioning coach, took charge of the team for the ongoing third Test in Colombo. Kirsten is yet to reveal whether he will join the team for the five-match ODI series starting August 18.
