  • Mark Waugh,on 41, became the leading run scorer for Australia in World Cup surpassing David Boon's tally of 815 runs (from 16 matches).
  • Steve Waugh,on 19, completed his 1000 runs in ODIs as captain. He became fourth Australian after Allan Border (4439 runs in 178 matches), Mark Taylor (2098 runs in 67 matches) and Greg Chappell (1718 runs in 49 mathces) and 26th player to aggregate 1000 or more runs as captain.
  • Steve Waugh,on 35,also completed his 6000 runs in ODIs. He became fourth Australian after Allan Border (6524 runs in 273 matches), Mark Waugh (6490 runs in 187 matches) and Dean Jones (6068 runs in 164 matches) and 16th batsman in ODI history to do so.
  • By doing so in his 264th match,Steve Waugh has now taken most matches to reach this landmark. Australian Allan Border was the previous record holder.Border had taken 247 matches to achieve this landmark in 1992-93.
  • Sachin Tendulkar recorded 10th duck of his career in his 216th match. It was also Tendulkar's first duck against Australia after scoring 1260 runs at an average of 60.00 in 21 matches.
  • The 141 run partnership (off 188 balls) for the fifth wicket between Ajay Jadeja and Robin Singh is India's second best for this wicket in ODIs after world record 223 run partnership between Mohammad Azharuddin and Ajay Jadeja against SriLanka at Colombo RP on 17-08-1997. The previous best fifth wicket partnership for India against Australia was 121 between Ajay Jadeja and Hrishikesh Kanitkar at Kochi on 01-04-1998.
  • It is also the best for India for fifth wicket in all World Cup matches. The previous best was 66 run partnership between Sanjay Manjrekar and Mohammad Azharuddin also against Australia at Brisbane on 01 Mar 1992.
  • Ajay Jadeja scored his sixth ODI hundred in 170th match and second against Australia.His innings is highest for India against Australia in World Cup obliterating Mohammad Azharuddin's 93 at Brisbane on 01 Mar 1992.
  • Adam Gilchrist became only the fourth wicketkeeper to score 30 plus runs and effect four dismissal in a world cup match. Overall it was 12th such instance in ODI history with Gilchrist being the only one to do so on two separate occasions.
