Wills Cup: Official Agreement Signed

International Cricket Council (ICC) has signed an agreement with
Bangladesh Cricket Board officially permitting Dhaka to host the
9-nation Wills International Cup Cricket from October 24-November 2.
ICC chief executive David Richards, now in the capital to inspect the
final phase preparation of the day-night tournament, Tuesday signed
the agreement for ICC while Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president
Saber Hossian Chowdhury on behalf of the host country.
Sources at the BCB confirmed the signing of the agreement, but would
not elaborate. An official announcement in this regard will jointly
be made by the ICC and BCB at a press conference in Dhaka on
Wednesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Richards along with his executive assistant Campbell
Jamieson and event manager of Wills Cup Asif Iqbal passed a very busy
schedule on the second day in Dhaka Tuesday.
In the morning, the ICC officials visited three practice grounds in
the city - Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, Dhanmondi Sultana Kamal Women's
Sports Complex and BUET ground. BCB joint secretary DS Arefin Tutul
accompanied them. Later they met with the local representative of
UN's World Health Organisation (WHO) discussing the post-flood health
situation in the country and were completely satisfied with the
present condition, sources said.
The ICC officials also met with managing director of Sadharan Bima
Corporation to discuss the insurance related matters and the Chief
Engineer of Dhaka Electric Supply Authority about power facilities
during the 9-day tourney.
They had meetings with the chairmen and convenors of different
sub-committees of the Wills Cup Cricket, the first ever knock-out
World Cup Cricket involving all the nine test playing countries. In
the evening, the ICC officials met with BCB president Saber Hossain
Chowdhury at the board office. Later, they again inspected the
floodlights and other facilities at the games venue - Bangabandhu
National Stadium.
