The Wills International Cup cricket tournament in the city is likely
to take off mainly in dry weather, the Meteorological Office said
yesterday.
"But the day would start with a light mist, the wind blowing 3 to 5 km
per hour, increasing to 7-10 kmph as the day clears," a senior
meteorologist said.
However, the weather will remain dry till Oct 27, followed by a period
of isolated rains till Oct 29, then become drier again as the autumn
slowly gives way to a touch of winter.
A low pressure in the North-West Bay of Bengal, Gangetic West Bengal
and its adjoining areas triggered some scattered rains yesterday as it
moved northward.
But it would clear and bring a mainly dry weather on October 24, the
day the coveted Wills Cup cricket begins.
But there is a possibility of a low developing in the Bay later,
although it seems the weather will remain mainly dry after Oct 29, the
meteorologist said.
